Akshaye Khanna and Richa Chadha starrer 'Section 375' to be the closing film at the 3rd Singapore South Asian International Film Festival

The film directed by Ajay Bahl, produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak & SCIPL is about Section 375 of Indian Penal Code laws and talks about the relevant topic of sexual harassment.

Co-chairman of Sg.SAIFF Piiyush Singh confirmed, “Yes, Section 375 is the closing film at Sg.SAIFF. The idea is to have quality films that trigger conversations around societal issues and cinema. We are happy to have a lineup of stimulating films in such a short span of time and the idea is to be better with each passing year.” Akshaye Khanna added, “Section 375 is one of those films that is a pacesetter for socially relevant cinema that is both entertaining and engaging. I am happy that the film has been picked to be the closing film at Sg.SAIFF. A flagship screening at a film festival is the best possible way for this film to start its journey into people’s minds and hearts. Film festivals are the greatest celebration of the art of cinema that we are all privileged to practice. Sg.SAIFF is an amazing platform to showcase the hard work and passion that has gone into crafting this film and my personal journey in playing this character which has so many shades and nuances. I’m excited to present this film to the amazing Singapore audience.” While Richa Chadda said, “This is one of my most challenging roles ever in a film whose script I completely loved. The fact that the film has been selected to be the closing film of a prestigious film festival like Sg.SAIFF is a matter of great satisfaction and honor for me. I am very excited to be able to present the film in-person to a large live audience and be able to engage in a real-time dialogue. The film is about creating a meaningful dialogue in society about the rape law in India and it is fitting that its journey starts at a prestigious film festival.”

The third edition of Sg.SAIFF will have films helmed by the jury members, acclaimed documentaries, short films and world premieres of a few much-awaited films that are sure going to be a treat for film lovers. Started in year 2017, the festival serves as a unique opportunity for a cultural interaction between South Asia and Singapore with several panel discussions, master classes and other business networking sessions. Supported by the Singapore Indian High Commission(IHC ), the festival will conclude with an award show.
