'All my scenes are with her and I got to know her really well': Sanjay Kapoor on playing his niece Sonam Kapoor’s father in The Zoya Factor

Sanjay Kapoor impressed everyone with his act in Netflix's web anthology Lust Stories and her portrayal helped him in bagging the role of Vidya Balan’s nagging husband in Jagan Shakti's Mission Mangal. Interestingly, he will also be seen playing his niece Sonam K Ahuja’s father in The Zoya Factor. Stating that his bond with Sonam became stronger after the film, Sanjay told a leading daily, “When we were filming it, Sonam was newly married and Anand (K Ahuja) used to come to the sets often. It was lovely working with her."

He further added, “I share a warm and affectionate relationship with Sonam. All my scenes are with her and we used to spend 13-14 hours on the set every day. We used to share lunches and dinners and I got to know her really well. Earlier, we’d meet for family functions and festivals like Rakhi and Diwali, but for the film, we spent a lot of quality time together." For the unversed, The Zoya Factor is based on novelist Anuja Chauhan's book of the same name. It tells the tale of a Rajput girl, Zoya Solanki (Sonam), who meets the Indian cricket team through her job as an executive in an advertising agency and ends up becoming a lucky charm for the team in the Cricket World Cup.

Not just the Abhishek Sharma directorial, Sanjay will be seen in a 10-episode digital series as the main lead. Talking about it, he stated, “Being an actor on the big screen and simultaneously doing a web series in which I play the main lead — I am in a great phase of my career. I couldn’t have asked for better."

Coming back to The Zoya Factor, the Fox Star Hindi project will release on September 20 and also stars Dulquer Salmaan.
