'Was scared of being judged,' says Sameera Reddy on refusing a role in 'Lagaan' owing to stammering issues

Sameera Reddy, of late, has been making the right noise with empowering statements and honest confessions. Be it facing post-pregnancy body shaming or confessing to suffering from stammering, the actress has made the nation sit back and take notice of her undying spirit. Similarly, she once again, during an interview where she revealed about stammering issues, also spoke about making mistake workwise previously and said she was offered the lead role in Ashutosh Gowarikar directorial Lagaan. She further added that she refused the offer because of her stammering issues. The Race actress went on to say that her fear of being judged made her lose out the biggest film of her career.

Did I make mistakes? I turned down Lagaan okay... not that it came to me on a platter. I went and met the director, he really liked me. Ashutosh Gowariker till today, when he meets me, he says 'Sameera, you know you could've done Lagaan!' And I'm like yeah man! But I wanna tell him today the reason I didn't do it was not because I was obnoxious... I was scared shitless! I was so scared of being judged, I was so scared that people will find out that I cannot speak. And that's why I didn't do Lagaan which could've been the biggest movie of my life," Sameera told.
