Mission Mangal vs Batla House Box Office Day 2: Akshay Kumar's and Vidya Balan's film inches towards the 50 crore mark, John Abraham starrer sustains

Two big films - Mission Mangal and Batla House - released on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15 and the big box-office battle began. Mission Mangal, directed by Jagan Shakti, is a multi starrer which features Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithya Menen and Kirti Kulhari whereas Nikkhil Advani's Batla House stars John Abraham and Mrunal Thakur in lead roles. 

After setting up a box office record for Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal with a massive Rs 29 crore opening the film became a winner as it earned Rs 17.28 crore on Friday despite it being a working day. The film's total stands at 46.44 crores, taking it close to the 50 crore mark. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures, “#MissionMangal is unstoppable on Day 2 [working day after a big holiday]... Multiplexes are terrific, driving its biz... Day 3 and 4 will be massive again... Eyes 85 cr+ total in *extended* weekend... Thu 29.16 cr, Fri 17.28 cr. Total: 46.44 cr. India biz.”

Batla House, on the other hand, became steady on day 2 as it collected 8.84 crores. About Batla House, Taran tweeted, “#BatlaHouse faces the normal decline on Day 2 [working day after a big holiday]... Day 3 and 4 should witness an upward trend... Needs to pack solid numbers to record a strong *extended* weekend... Thu 15.55 cr [revised], Fri 8.84 cr. Total: 24.39 cr. India biz,” Taran tweeted.
