'Obstacles will come, but we should not give up,' says Taapsee Pannu on MeToo India movement

Taapsee Pannu, with her strong and important roles in cinema, has established a name for herself in those who stand up for the right. With films like Pink to her credit, Taapsee has been quite vocal about equality in men and women across fields and now, she has spoken about the much controversial movement, MeToo. The actress, during an interview with a media agency, said women who are victims of sexual harassment shouldn't give up hope on getting justice as the situation in the society won't undergo an improvement overnight. She added, if silence is maintained over torture, the change is unlikely to take place. The actress told, it takes a lot of time to break the momentum in such matters.

"If the person who is accused of sexual harassment doesn't get punished, the spirit of the movement and a woman who comes out with the story of abuse in public, gets shattered. However, it should not stop other girls from raising their voices if they are abused, because they have stayed silent for ages. We all can see how a collective consciousness has come into the picture since the #MeToo movement have started. Nothing will change overnight, but we should not give up on the situation and tolerate abuse. Obstacles will come, but we should not give up. This is a transformative time and therefore it is difficult but if we do not continue, the change will not come in future," Taapsee told.
