‘Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai’ remake should have newcomers in the lead: Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan burst on to the screen with a highly successful and record-breaking Bollywood debut 19 years ago in Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai. The film was a roaring hit at the box office and catapulted Hrithik to superstardom and such a mammoth female fan following that was reminiscent of Rajesh Khanna’s. The actor became an overnight star and clinched every award that was on offer. Ameesha Patel also made her debut with the film and followed it up with a very successful Gadar: Ek Prem Katha opposite Sunny Deol.

Recently, when every other 90s film is getting its own remake, Hrithik was asked about the remake of Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai or its sequel. Talking about the film, he told an entertainment website, “Why would anyone want to remake Kaho Naa…Pyaar hai?" However, when he was insisted on his take for a remake, he said, “I think newcomers should only be cast in the remake as two newcomers were launched with it earlier, in case ever made."

Hrithik played the double role of lookalike Rohit and Raj. The film had murder as its subplot and is still known for its melodious songs composed by Hrithik’s uncle and veteran music director Rajesh Roshan. The film is also well-known for the marvelous dance of Hrithik and the hook step of Ek Pal Ka Jeena became the actor’s signature step in his career. The film was written, directed and produced by Hrithik’s father Rakesh Roshan.
