John Abraham’s ‘Batla House’ is highly authentic, DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav's inputs play a major role

Director Nikkhil Advani's next film, Batla House, is inspired by the Operation Batla House that took place in Delhi in 2008. Actor John Abraham plays DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who spearheaded the operation. While real-life stories need a lot of research, the Deputy Commissioner of police gave his inputs to keep the authenticity of the film.

According to a source, "He wanted even the minute details in the film to be perfect. When Sanjeev saw a few shots, he realized there were some minute corrections that were needed — the medals, uniform, etc. He informed Nikkhil and asked him to change it, so no mistakes are made."

Nikkhil who was more than happy with Sanjeev's inputs willingly reshot those scenes. "Batla House is inspired by a real-life incident. However, we have always tried to be as thorough as possible when it comes to research. Whether it is costume, production design, props or language... we try and dig deep with our research. In the case of Batla House, it's so fresh in the minds of people and there are many images that are available for people to refer back to. All the interactions we had with the different parties that were involved and the various accounts, notes, blogs, interviews and opinions that we read, helped shape the narrative. DCP Yadav sir is a very quiet and cautious man. He would not say more than what was required. However, he did point out the details that we had missed out," says director Nikkhil Advani.

Batla House also stars Mrunal Thakur and Ravi Kishan is directed by Nikkhil Advani. Produced by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Emmay Entertainment’s Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani & JA Entertainment in association with Bake My Cake Films’ Sandeep Leyzell, the film will release on 15th August 2019.
