Abhay Deol will once again be seen in a Kollywood film after several years. He was supposed to make his debut in Ashwin Kakumanu’s Idhu Vedalam Sollum Kadhai which is still in the pipeline and yet to see the light of the day. However, now the actor is once again coming up with an exciting project. He will be seen playing the antagonist in Sivakarthikeyan's upcoming film Hero. The film will be directed by PS Mithran.

Talking about Abhay’s character in the film, Mithran said, “His presence is going to be the uttermost amplifier in elevating the essence of Hero and continues to add the reason behind getting him for this film. My debut film Irumbu Thirai was highly noticed for the overpowering character of the antagonist, which was played by Arjun sir. Obviously, this actually had an additional responsibility to create a villainous character with herculean shades."

Elaborating more on Abhay’s character and what made him choose the actor to play the antagonist, Mithran said, “He's someone who is unpredictable and unassuming. His uttermost reactions would be a minimal smile, but there's more terror lying beneath it. When I was running through my imaginations, it was Abhay Deol, who looked befittingly much perfect and to my surprise, he was quite impressed with the tale and his role as well.”

Hero also stars Kalyani Priyadarshan who is making her Tamil debut. She is the daughter of filmmaker Priyadarshan and Malayalam actor Lissy. The film also stars Arjun Sara and Ivana of Naachiyaar fame. The action-thriller is produced by KJR Studios and went on floors in March this year.
