David Dhawan along with film producer Vashu Bhagnani is all set to revive the old charm of '90s hit film Coolie No. 1 which featured Govinda and Karisma Kapoor. The official adaptation of the 1995 film will feature David's younger son and Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan and Saif Ali Khan's and Amrita Singh's daughter Sara Ali Khan in lead roles. Paresh Rawal will also star in the remake and will respire the role of late legendary actor Kader Khan. Now, according to media reports, David, who is directing the film, has roped in veteran comedian Johnny Lever who will step into the shoes of Tiku Talsania who played the role of an inspector in the original.
Raring to start shooting, Johnny said, “I’ve worked with David in many films, including Deewana Mastana, Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge and Judwaa 2. It’s great to team up with him again, he has a good understanding of comedy and we have been in sync since the ’90s. It’s a wonderful role.” He added that he is also looking forward to working with “super actor” Varun.
The film will go on floors in Bangkok on August 5 and is slated for a May 1 release.
