Has Sonakshi Sinha been approached to play Paralympic silver medalist Deepa Malik in a biopic?

A few years ago, it was reported that Farhan Akhtar's and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment will be bankrolling a biopic on Paralympic Deepa Malik, who is the first Indian woman to win a medal in Paralympic Games and a silver at the 2016 Summer Paralympics. Not just that, she has won 54 national gold medals and 13 in swimming, shot put and javelin throw at the international level, apart from being awarded both the Arjuna Award and the Padma Shri.

Now according to a report in a leading daily, the makers have reportedly approached Sonakshi Sinha to play the lead in the biopic based on Deepa Malik. Well, it seems Sonakshi is following the footsteps of Priyanka Chopra (Mary Kom), Parineeti Chopra (Saina Nehwal biopic), Fatima Sana Shaikh (Dangal) and others, in taking up a sports biopic. If the report is indeed true, we cannot wait to see Sonakshi as the Paralympic.

Meanwhile, in 2016, Sonakshi even met Deepa at an awards show and they both had a fangirl moment with each other. While Deepa had tweeted about the actor stating, "Sonakshi Sinha it sure was a fan moment. Great receiving the award from the Bindaas girl. Blessings and success is wished today and always," Sonakshi replied, "Ma'am it was a fan moment for me!!! thank you for being you and radiating so much positivity! Truly an inspiration...Deepa Athlete."

Workwise, Sonakshi will next be seen in Dabangg 3, Mission Mangal and Khandaani Shafakhana.
