PM Narendra Modi sends a letter of condolence to the Devgans, Ajay says the family is deeply touched by the gesture

This week began rather on a sad and tragic note for Ajay Devgn as his father Veeru Devgan breathed his last in Mumbai due to prolonged illness. Several celebrities and industry friends of the Devgan family made it a point to visit the bereaved family during the tough phase and offered their condolences to Ajay, Kajol and Ajay's mother Veena Devgan. Similarly, upon hearing about the news, PM Narendra Modi sent out a letter of condolence to Veena ji and acknowledged Veeru ji's contribution towards the film industry. In response to the letter, Ajay, on Twitter shared the letter and thanked Mr. Modi for the gesture. He said the entire Devgan family is humbled and are deeply touched by the letter.

The letter by Modi read, "I am deeply saddened to learn of the demise of Veeru Devgan who was widely respected for his outstanding work across various domains of the Hindi film industry. This is a great loss for the industry." He further wrote, "There is something moving about people like Shri Veeru Devgan who took great personal risks just to enthrall audiences in an era of no 'visual effect', knowing well that the glory of taking those risks would not be credited to them. It is said that great things can be achieved if we do not care who gets the credit but concentrate on doing the best we can."

Veeruji, a veteran stunt director worked with the top producers and directors of Bollywood and gave numerous stunt sequences in superhit films like Dilwale, Mr.India, Hindustan Ki Kasam and Mr.Natwarlal amongst others. Veeru resided with Ajay, Kajol, Nysa, Yug and Veenaji in Mumbai. Earlier on Thursday, the Devgan family had organised a prayer meet for the late action director in Mumbai.
