Quashing health scare rumours, Mithun Chakraborty signs horror-comedy ‘Bhootiyapa’

Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty has been missing from the big screen for a while now and there were rumours that the actor is battling some serious illness and was reported to be undergoing medical treatment in Los Angeles. However, his son Namashi Chakraborty refuted such rumours and said that the only thing the actor was suffering from was terrible back pain. Now, Mithun is back on his feet and has signed his next project, a horror-comedy titled Bhootiyapa.

Bhootiyapa also stars comedians Krushna Abhishek, Sugandha Mishra and Rajiv Thakur in pivotal roles and the shooting will begin in July or August this year. Manoj Sharma, the director of the film also quashed rumours of Mithun’s illness and told a leading daily, “Dada is absolutely fit and all these rumours are false. I met him for a couple of meetings at his Madh bungalow earlier this month. He agreed to be a part of my film soon after listening to the narration. Eighty percent of the film will be shot in Lucknow, while the rest will be filmed in Mumbai.”

Talking about the film, Mithun told the daily, “I loved the script in the first narration itself and accepted the offer on the same day. Yes, I am doing the film Bhootiyapa.” Bhootiyapa has no scope for Mithun to showcase his impeccable dancing skills but Manoj is planning a special number. He said, “I will try to create a promotional track where we can get Dada to shake a leg.” The film has the veteran actor playing a royal who invites three stand-up comedians to perform at his palace.
