I’m too shy, uncomfortable around a crowd: Ajay Devgn on joining politics

As the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2019 is scheduled for May 19. Ahead of it, one cannot help but notice that many actors like Sunny Deol and Urmila Matondkar have forayed into the world of politics this year. However, when Ajay Devgn was asked if he has any plans to set his foot into the political world, his answer was a clear no as he feels he won't be able to justify his job.

In an interview with a daily, Ajay said, “I’m too shy for politics. I am uncomfortable around a crowd; almost claustrophobic. Though, I’m at ease in front of the camera, I’m an introvert otherwise.” Further calling politics as a people-profession, the actor added, “Also, I may not be able to justify my job. Politics is a people-profession. You need to constantly interact with those who have placed their trust in you. You can’t be a good politician if you are too shy to go out there and actually spend time on ground zero.”

When questioned about his views on the likes of Sunny and Urmila, who are contesting elections this year, Ajay replied, “People who wish to do good for the country can join politics. My best wishes are with Sunny and Urmila. I am sure they have thought their decision through before taking such a huge step in the direction of public service. I sincerely hope they are able to bring about a change. India has got some dynamic leaders as of today. We could certainly benefit from more individuals who will work selflessly towards the larger cause of the country.” While Sunny is contesting from Gurdaspur in Punjab, Urmila is contesting from Mumbai North Constituency.

On the work front, Ajay will next be seen in Rakul Preet and Tabu starrer De De Pyaar De. Directed by Akiv Ali and produced by Luv Ranjan, it is slated to release on May 17.
