The transition from pizza to salad and from lethargy to cardio is how I kickstarted my fitness journey: Sara Ali Khan

Sara Ali Khan has spoken about her fitness routine at length during her conversation with a leading magazine and said that her transformation basically involved a healthy diet and a strict workout regimen. Before making her debut in the Hindi film industry, Sara was completing her education in New York and weighed 96kg and speaking of her weight loss journey, she said that she changed her food habits completely to achieve her dream figure.

“For me, it all started in New York. I weighed 96kg and had a year to go before I graduated. The transition from pizza to salad and from lethargy to cardio is how I kickstarted my fitness journey. I simply started eating healthy and began working out when in New York,” Sara told the magazine.

Most importantly, Sara said that although she was introduced to several forms of exercise, she started off with cardio-heavy workouts primarily before moving on to other forms.

“There were so many different types of classes in that city, from functional training to boxing to cycling. But because I was so overweight at the start, (my routine) was more about cardio-heavy workouts like walking, cycling and hitting the treadmill—so that I could lose the weight before entering the intermediate forms of exercise,” Sara added.

Speaking of her current fitness routine, Sara said that she practices Pilates, boxing and cardio but she doesn’t work out on Sundays. “It’s pretty eclectic; it’s a combination of functional training, Pilates, boxing and cardio. I like to change things up, but ensure that I work out for an hour and a half every single day—except on Sunday, because that’s my day to chill,” she said.

Sara Ali Khan, daughter of Saif Ali Khan and his former wife Amrita Singh, made her debut in Bollywood with Kedarnath in 2018. She subsequently starred in Simmba opposite Ranveer Singh – her upcoming projects include Coolie No.1 remake with Varun Dhawan and Imtiaz Ali’s new film, co-starring Kartik Aaryan.
