Chhapaak will be a tight slap on that attacker who thought he has ruined my life: Acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal on Deepika Padukone’s film

Acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal as inspired a lot of women as well as men with her resilience, perseverance and motivation. Her will to live and her efforts to stop the sale of acid in India has led the government to change rules and the society to look at acid attack survivors like herself in a new light. Laxmi was attacked with acid in Delhi when she was 15-years-old. However, that did not take away her will to live and now Meghna Gulzar is directing a biopic on her titled Chhappak that has Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey in the lead.

At a recent event held in Jaipur, Laxmi shared how happy and excited she is that Deepika is playing her on screen. She told a leading daily, “I have never won a medal in school. Who would have thought about a biopic being made on me? I am thankful to Meghna ji for considering my work worthy enough to be converted into a film. I am also elated that a celebrity like Deepika is playing me. I just want to say that this film will be a tight slap on that attacker who thought he has ruined my life and to the society who looked at me like a criminal."
