The original song was sung by B Praak and talking about the latest version, composer Arko Pravo Mukherjee told a leading daily, "Teri Mitti is a martyr’s tribute to his motherland and it brought in emotional mails from people all over the world. Parineeti’s version has different lyrics because she was keen to do a female take on the song. Manoj (Muntashir, lyricist), Parineeti and I had a few meetings before Anurag (Singh, who directed the film) came on board. Karan (producer, Karan Johar) approved the idea.”

The latest version has come out after three week of the film's release as an 'added attraction'.
