I am embarrassed, what is there to beat in Gully Boy performance: Kangana Ranaut on beating Alia Bhatt in an online poll for Best Actress

Kangana Ranaut who is well known for making controversial statements and taking potshots at her fellow actors and the film fraternity has once again targeted Alia Bhatt. Kangana has launched yet another attack on Alia by calling her performance in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy as mediocre. She even said that she felt embarrassed about being compared to Alia.

Apparently, Kangana was responding to an entertainment portal’s online poll in which she won Best Actress for her portrayal of Rani Lakshmibai in Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi beating Alia’s performance in Gully Boy. Kangana won the poll with 37% votes while Alia stood second with 33% votes. When asked to comment on her win and beating Alia, Kangana said, “I am embarrassed...What is there to beat in Gully Boy performance ....same snappy muh phat girl... Bollywood’s idea of a fiery girl, woman empowerment and good acting, spare me this embarrassment, please. Media has taken filmy kids love too far...stop pampering mediocre work or else bar will never be raised."

Alia’s work in Gully Boy was appreciated by critics and audiences as well but looks like Kangana is not impressed. Earlier too, Kangana had blamed Alia and other stars for skipping the premieres of her films and not supporting Manikarnika while they support each other’s works. She had, in fact, called out Alia and her boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor for not taking a stand on national issues and not voicing their opinions on political and social issues.
