It would be a cliché to say there are more shades to him than what is seen in the trailer: Kunal Kemmu on his role in Kalank

Karan Johar’s and Sajid Nadiadwala’s production venture Kalank is one of the most awaited films of the year. Helmed by Abhishek Varman the films boast of a stellar cast of Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kunal Kemmu. While Alia, Varun, Madhuri, Sonakshi, Sanjay and Aditya are the leads in the film and are busy promoting Kalank, it was Kunal’s intense scene in the trailer that earned him lots of brownie points. He was the surprise package of the trailer and promises to have a very important and significant role in the film.

In a recent interview, Kunal spoke about his role in the film and the fact that Kalank is different from the comedy films that he was seen in for some time. During the interview he was asked whether his is a negative character as in the trailer he seems to be very aggressive. To this Kunal said, “Whether he is positive or negative is something that you will see in the film. It would be a cliché to say there are more shades to him than what is seen in the trailer. But it’s an exciting part and I’m interested to see how people react to it.”

When he was asked what attracted him to Kalank and what propelled him to take up the role which is not a lead, he said, “All of us know that Karan Johar wanted to make it since a long time. It was his dream and Abhishek Varman was entrusted with realising it. To be part of such a film is a huge honour. Also, the role that I am playing is interesting and quite different from what I have played before. I was happy that both, Karan and Abhishek, felt that I could portray it.”

Kalank is all set to hit the theatres on April 17.
