It was a grand night at the Filmfare Awards ceremony in March in Mumbai as Alia Bhatt delivered a touching message for Ranbir Kapoor while accepting her Best Actress Award on stage. But that is not an ‘announcement’ of love, Alia said while speaking to a leading daily and moreover, she isn’t ready to defend her actions.
At the ceremony, in fact, Ranbir also kissed Alia before receiving his Best Actor trophy on stage. Asked whether actions as such were signs of an ‘official confirmation’ of their relationship, Alia told the daily, “That was not an announcement. And I don’t need to defend what I did because it was very personal.”
In that manner, Alia has been pretty vocal about her relationship with Ranbir and has often addressed questions about him during interviews. Recently, she described him as a “gem” while speaking to a leading entertainment magazine.
Rumours of Ranbir’s and Alia’s relationship surfaced in 2018 after both were spotted together quite often – at film screenings and events. In May last year, Ranbir confirmed his relationship with Alia while speaking to a leading magazine. Alia, in fact, also celebrated New Years with the Kapoors in New York and returned to Mumbai with Ranbir in the first week of January.
Ranbir and Alia, co-stars of Ayan Mukerji’s upcoming Brahmastra, fell in love while shooting for the film. Brahmastra, meanwhile, is scheduled to release in Christmas 2019.
