Recently reports started coming in that Saif Ali Khan will be a part of Imtiaz Ali’s film starring Kartik Aaryan and his daughter Sara Ali Khan. The film is tentatively titled Aaj Kal and is touted to be the sequel to Saif and Deepika Padukone starrer Love Aaj Kal. It was believed that Saif was essaying Kartik’s father’s role in the film. However, now it is being reported that these rumours are not true and Saif will not star in the film.
Saif told an entertainment portal, “I'd honestly want to play every role provided it's interesting enough and if the time permitted it. Though Imtiaz was very kind to offer me a part in the sequel of Love Aaj Kal, I haven't signed the film contrary to the rumours. It's a lovely movie and I'm very excited in particular that Sara is working with Imtiaz Ali. I wish both the young stars, Sara and Kartik, the best."

Saif has his hands full with quite a few lucrative projects. He will soon be returning to the digital medium for the second season of Sacred Games. He also has Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior with Ajay Devgn and Navdeep Singh’s revenge drama Hunter and Pawan Kriplani’s horror film Bhooth Police. He will also be seen in Nitin Kakkar’s Jawaani Jaaneman that also stars Pooja Bedi’s daughter Alaia Furniterwalla.
Sara’s and Kartik’s film Aaj Kal is slated to release on February 14, 2020.
