Akshay Kumar who was earlier said to be really excited about his new film which is the remake of hit South film Muni 2: Kanchana, better known as Kanchana has now confirmed the film. In a recent media interaction for the promotion of his upcoming film Kesari, Akshay confirmed that he will be doing a horror comedy. He didn't confirm the name of the film though. Kanchana was said to have caught Akshay’s attention several years ago when the actor had first seen it. Since that time the actor was really keen to remake it in Hindi and looks like it is finally happening.
When asked if the horror comedy is in the making, Akshay said, "Yes, I will be doing it." Reports are claiming that the makers have roped in actress Sobhita Dhulipala to be the lead in the film. No official confirmation on the female lead and title of the film has been given yet but with Akshay's yes we do know that the film will go on floors anytime soon.

Reports also suggest that the horror-comedy is titled, Laxmi which will showcase Akshay playing a transgender in the possessed avatar if the actor sticks to the South film’s original plot. Akshay will start the work on this film once he completes Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi which will release by the end of this year.
