Had Akshay Kumar said no to Kesari the film wouldn’t have been made: Karan Johar

Today, the team of Kesari including producers Karan Johar and Sunir Khetarpal, director Anurag Singh and actors Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra hosted a press meet for the film and to launch the new song Teri Mitti. During the press conference, the team spoke at length about the film that is based on The Battle of Saragarhi. Karan heaped praise on his lead actor Akshay and said that if he had not agreed to do the film, Kesari would never have been made.

The Battle of Saragarhi is one of the greatest battles ever fought where a regiment of only 21 Sikhs proceeded to fight a troop of 10,000 Afghan invaders. Akshay plays the role of Havildar Ishar Singh, the regiment leader. Talking about Akshay, Karan said, “I feel if there is one man who can stand, scream and scare a battalion of people it's Akshay Kumar. Had he said no, then Kesari would not have seen the light of day.”
