Filmmaker Karan Johar said that the title of his upcoming film Kalank has several connotations and it actually depends on the perception of the viewer to derive the meaning of the name. Kalank stars Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles. The teaser of the film was launched in Mumbai today while Kalank garnered enough acclaim after the video dropped online.
At the trailer launch event, Karan was asked to explain the meaning of Kalank and he said that the title could either mean a mark or kohl – it could even refer to love – but that is a decision you have to make after watching the film at theatres.

“Kalank has several meanings. It depends on your perception. For some, it might refer to a mark while some others might consider it to be kaajal. Some might also say that Kalank is a mark on your clothes or your life or in the environment. Or somebody might even consider Kalank to be a personification of love. It depends on your perception and you will find that out after watching the film – whether Kalank refers to love or not is something that you will decide,” KJo said at the teaser launch of the film.
