Salman Khan’s film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali reportedly titled Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2 but it isn’t a sequel

Salman Khan is all set to reunite with Sanjay Leela Bhansali after 12 years for his next film and if a report in a leading daily is anything to go by, it might be titled Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2. As per the report, the film isn’t a remake or a sequel to the 1999 film but considering the fact that Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2 has “all the elements” of the first part, the title appears to be fit for the film.

Sources, in fact, also told the daily that the plot of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2 will be completely different from the first part while an A-list actress will star opposite Salman in the film. Makers, though, have not approached any actress for the role as yet.

“Sanjay, who is penning the script, has narrated the idea to Salman and he is on board. Though the film isn’t a sequel or a remake, it may be called Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam 2. SLB feels that the movie has all the elements that Hum Dil... had. So, the title feels like a natural fit for part two. However, it will have a different story and new characters. An A-list heroine will be cast opposite Salman, but the makers haven’t approached anyone as yet,” a source was quoted as saying by the daily.

Salman and Bhansali are expected to begin filming by 2019 as the project is scheduled to release in 2020. In March, Salman will begin shoot for Dabangg 3 and start work on Bhansali’s film soon after he wraps the cop film.

“Salman starts Dabangg 3 in the last week of March. Once he finishes the third instalment of the cop franchise, he will begin work on this project. The movie is being readied for a 2020 release,” the source added.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is one of the most iconic films of Salman Khan, co-starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Apart from this film, Bhansali also directed Salman in Khamoshi: The Musical and Saawariya.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali last directed 2018’s Padmaavat while Salman Khan will appear next in Bharat, scheduled for release on Eid.
