Ranveer Singh’s upcoming Kapil Dev biopic ’83 has added another stellar name to its star cast. Apparently, Pankaj Tripathi has been zeroed down to play the role of Ranveer’s coach in the film directed by Kabir Khan.
The role was first offered to Nawazuddin Siddiqui but the powerhouse actor had to decline due to the film’s delay in shooting. Nawazuddin had to forgo the coveted role as he had other professional commitments to adhere to during the same time.

However, Nawazuddin’s loss is going to be Pankaj’s gain as the acclaimed actor is all set to step into the coach’s role in the film. Ranveer and Pankaj had earlier met for a shoot and both had a mutual attraction society going as they couldn’t stop praising each other’s performances.

Ranveer, at a media interaction, had hinted at looking forward to working with Pankaj. ’83 is based on India’s historic victory at 1983 World Cup at Lord’s Stadium in England. The team was led by Kapil Dev and it went on to defeat clear favourites West Indies in the finals.
Besides Ranveer, ’83 stars Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Jiva, Tahir Raj Bhasin, and Sahil Khattar. These actors will be playing the legendary cricketers who played alongside Kapil Dev and brought the laurel to India.
