Boney Kapoor slams legal notice on Priya Prakash Varrier’s film Sridevi Bungalow


A year after Priya Prakash Varrier sent the entire country in a tizzy because of her wink and eyebrow game, the actress is all set to make her Bollywood debut with the film Sridevi Bungalow, which is directed by Prasanth Mambully. However, the film has already got embroiled in controversy as it is presumed to be a mockery of late actress Sridevi’s life. Veteran actor Sridevi’s untimely death last year sent the entire country into shock. In the film, Priya plays the role of a lonely actress who drowns in a bathtub which is seen in the teaser of the film.

The film’s teaser shows Priya’s death in a bathtub which is uncannily similar to Sridevi’s death and that has irked the legendary actress’ husband producer Boney Kapoor. Reportedly, Boney has sent a legal notice to the film’s makers. Prasanth confirmed this to a portal and said, “We received a legal notice from Mr Boney Kapoor last week. And we will face it. My film is a suspense thriller. I told him (Boney Kapoor) that Sridevi is a common name. My film's character also happens to be an actress. We will face it (the legal case)."

Priya, on the other hand, refrained from commenting on the case. Priya is rumoured to be a part of Karan Johar’s Takht and was recently spotted at the special screening of Vicky Kaushal’s and Yami Gautam’s film Uri: The Surgical Strike.

Sridevi’s death in Dubai last year where she had gone to attend her nephew’s wedding raised a lot of questions and enquiries. However, the case was cleared and inference of accidental drowning announced. The actress’ death sent a wave of shock throughout the country and her fans including many dignitaries and leaders of the country also paid tribute to the actress.
