Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan to reunite after 11 years in Mani Ratnam's next?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was last seen in Fanney Khan, recently hinted at a collaboration with director Mani Ratnam and claimed there has been a discussion about a film. Now if a report in a leading daily is to be believed, the stunning actress has finally given a heads up to the film, which is touted to be a historical drama, as big as the Baahubali franchise.

"It’s a big-budget historical drama, which is being planned on the lines of the Baahubali franchise. It’s likely to be a bilingual project and star several other big names from the South Indian film industry. Mani approached his muse Aishwarya for the female lead and she signed on the dotted line," the daily quoted a source as saying.

What's more? The filmmaker has also approached Aish's father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan to play a pivotal role in the magnum opus, however, he is yet to give his nod to the film. Well, if Big B eventually decided to do the film, he will be reuniting with Aishwarya after a gap of 11 years on the silver screen. The duo was last seen together in Sarkar Raj (2008).

The report further mentions that this franchise will be a three-installment series, which is an adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s popular historical novel Ponniyin Selvan (The Son of Ponni). Moreover, the actors have been asked to give bulk dates and commit a few years to this film. Apparently, a big announcement on the same is expected to be made around Pongal (January 14).

Well, we cannot wait for it certainly!
