After a whirlwind of ceremonies and receptions, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone made a final classy statement with their star-studded, post wedding reception at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai on December 1. You name it and bigwigs like Amitabh & Jaya Bachchan, Hema Malini, Rekha, Jeetendra, Shah Rukh Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Kareena & Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor turned up in their best glitter.
BUT… Why did certain celebs give this occasion a miss??? And HOW COME there were some unexpected star entries??? Read on for the inside story!
The 'official' reports suggest that Ranbir and Alia didn’t attend due to their ongoing shoot for Brahmastra. But did Ranbir not show up because he just couldn’t handle his ex, taking that final step with someone else? Yes, they still share a great rapport on the work front; but it was tricky for Ranbir to hop in and look happy… A friend insists he chose to keep away for other reasons – what with dad Rishi Kapoor unwell and still undergoing treatment in New York. Alia, being the loving and loyal girlfriend would obviously prefer to follow his lead and do a no-show as well!

Then there’s Kangana… Forget attending the reception, she was apparently left out of the guest list altogether! Any wonder why, when there’s STILL an ongoing silent war between Deepika and her. It started in 2014 when Deepika won Best Actress for Happy New Year, but dedicated her win to Kangana instead, for Queen. Queen Kangana did not appreciate this (she doesn’t like settling for second best) and stated that she wished Deepika had told her in person… A series of misunderstandings followed which still seem to exist in 2018!
Dating the same guy doesn’t ever go down well with two women… Case in point: Katrina and Deepika, who both dated Ranbir. Buzz is that Ranbir cheated on Deepika with Katrina. What’s worse, he even moved in with the latter. Naturally, Deepika took every opportunity to ridicule Ranbir – even on K Jo’s Koffee with Karan! Things got so bad that dad Rishi Kapoor stepped in, berated Karan and didn’t say nice things about Deepika either… Back to the present, Katrina decided to bury the hatchet and make a surprise appearance at the DeepVeer reception. But don’t forget: apparently Ranveer invited her and NOT Deepika!!! We wonder whether Katrina was trying to say she thinks Ranveer is a great choice for Deepika… Because Kat got dumped by Ranbir too!

Anushka’s earlier relationship with Ranveer was much like their film Band Baaja Baarat; only there was no baarat eventually. She settled for the less eccentric Virat Kohli. And despite Ranveer giving the Anushka-Virat wedding reception a miss, the actress put in a pretty appearance on Ranveer’s big day. And why not? She is still in a blissfully married-to-Virat state and is nearing their first anniversary!

Remember the second episode of Karan Johar’s Koffee with Karan, where Ranveer and Akshay impressed everyone with their bromance? Apart from Ranveer asking Akshay to stitch a suit to attend his wedding… Well naturally everyone was surprised that Akshay was not part of the DeepVeer do. Incidentally, Salman is also in Thailand attending the same wedding hence his absence… Not that he sees fit to explain this to anyone except Deepika and Ranveer!
