IFFI 2018: Boney Kapoor and Janhvi speak about Sridevi, say she was the only actor who could act any script

The 49th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is going on at Goa. Boney Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor attended the IFFI 2018 today as part of the ‘In-conversations’ session. Their session was named Konversation with the Kapoors. The two spoke about the changes that have come in Bollywood over the years and also spoke about Boney’s wife and Janhvi’s mother the late veteran actor Sridevi. Boney expressed his love and admiration for his late wife and proclaimed that she was probably the only actor who could act in any script.

Talking about Sridevi in the session, Boney said, “I may sound immodest or conceited but she was perhaps the only actor who didn't have to have a script moulded for her. She could act in any script.” Sridevi was the first and probably the only female superstar of the country. She breathed her last in this year February and was cremated with full State honours.

Boney and Janhvi also spoke about the changes that the industry has seen over the years and the golden period that it is right now witnessing. Boney said, “First we used to release films in 50-60 film theatres all over the country and 10-15 theatres worldwide. A time has come where Indian films are getting screened at over thousands of screens all over the world. This is the diamond era of Indian Cinema. The fact is that we are no lesser than the western cinema. We have very talented technicians. We have Oscar winners like Resul Pookutty and AR Rahman.”

On the other hand, Janhvi spoke about the so-called female-centric films that have suddenly sprung up. She said, “In the earlier days, the acting and storytelling was more mesmerising than what we have now. During the Golden Era, there were many movies with a female lead like Mother India, but they were never called 'female oriented' films. They were just 'Films'.”
