Alok Nath to move Bombay High Court to quash FIR lodged against him in rape case

Vinta Nanda had accused popular TV actor Alok Nath of rape last month in a Facebook post that went viral. Later on, she lodged an FIR against the actor at the Oshiwara Police station under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). However, there was no reaction forthcoming from Alok but now the actor is taking the legal route to get the FIR quashed. His lawyer Ashok Saraogi told a new channel that they will be filing an appeal in the Bombay High Court tomorrow to quash the FIR.

Saraogi has denied the allegations levied against Alok and said that the FIR registered is based on hypothesis and assumptions and there is no evidence as such against the actor in the case. He also said that Vinta’s allegations are 20 years old and hence there can be no medical examination so how can rape be proved against his client.

The advocate went on to point fingers at Vinta herself and told the channel that as Vinta had accepted that she was in an inebriated and unconscious state then how can she say that the person who raped and took advantage of her is Alok and not someone else altogether.

On Wednesday after police registered an FIR against Alok, Vinta said in a statement, “I am happy that an FIR has been registered. I have faith in the Mumbai Police. I believe that since this case has reached this juncture, I will certainly get justice. I have full faith and trust in the Indian judiciary.”Cine and Television Artistes Association (CINTAA) had earlier expelled Alok on November 12 after he failed to provide any explanations made against him in the case.
