Akshay Kumar's Mission Mangal to release on Independence Day 2019; will clash with John Abraham’s Batla House

Akshay Kumar is all geared up for his next film, R. Balki’s space adventure Mission Mangal, also starring Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menen and Sharman Joshi. After announcing the film on the anniversary of India’s Mars Mission launch (November 5), Akshay on Tuesday revealed that the much-anticipated film will hit the theatres on Independence Day 2019.

Sharing the release date on Twitter, the GOLD actor wrote, "A powerful true story of ordinary people with extraordinary dreams, on an unheard of mission to achieve the impossible."

For the unversed, Mission Mangal will be helmed by Balki’s assistant director Jagan Shakti, who is making his directorial debut with the film. On the other hand, Vidya will be seen playing the leader of the team of the female scientists who made the mission possible.

Meanwhile, it is rather interesting to note that after the GOLD and Satyameva Jayate clash, Akshay's film will once again lock horns with John Abraham's upcoming project as the latter’s Batla House is scheduled to release on the same day as well. Apart from these two, Rajkummar Rao's Made in China is also coming out on August 15 next year. Well, it has certainly left us wondering how the three films will fare at the box-office.

Not to forget, the date had also been booked by Karan Johar for Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan. However, Karan announced on Twitter today itself that the release date has been pushed to Christmas, 2019.
