Buzz is that Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan will co-star in R Balki’s upcoming project based on India’s Mangalyaan space mission or the Mars Orbiter Mission. If this news is true, then Akshay and Vidya will be coming together after 11 years. They were co-stars in Heyy Babyy and Bhool Bhulaiyaa which both released in 2007.
Media sources say that Balki’s project is expected to go on the floors in January. Vidya reportedly plays a scientist in the film and Balki, whose last directorial was Akshay Kumar’s PadMan, is said to be looking for three other actresses who will also star in his new project. Vidya plays the leader of a team of scientists and will prep for her role in December. However, Akshay and she are not paired opposite each other.

“Vidya, who plays the leader of the team of scientists in the film, is set to kick off her prep in December, a month before the film goes on the floors. She and Akshay are teaming up after a long time but aren’t paired opposite each other. Balki is currently looking for three other actresses to play scientists alongside Vidya in the film,” a source close to the film was quoted as saying by the daily.
However, no official confirmation on the project has been provided by either party involved in the film. Reports, though, of Balki making a movie on astronauts had surfaced earlier as well as an entertainment portal had claimed that Akshay was finalized in the project.
Launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in 2013, Mangalyaan is a space probe that has been orbiting Mars since September 2014.

Meanwhile, Vidya, last seen in 2017’s Tumhari Sulu, will star next in the NTR biopic while Akshay is busy with multiple films at the moment – 2.0, Kesari, Housefull 4 and Good News. Balki last directed Akshay, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in Padman.
