#MeToo: Vidhu Vinod Chopra to take action against Zain Khan Durrani after Onir speaks out against his protégé

In a detailed blog post, Saloni Chopra recently accused filmmaker Sajid Khan of sexual harassment while she worked with him as an assistant. Apart from him, she also alleged physical abuse by the hands of actor Zain Khan Durrani, with whom she had a toxic relationship. Not to forget, Saloni had accused Zain for the first time in May this year. Incidentally, Saloni's claims regarding Zain came as a shock to filmmaker Onir, who launched him in Kuchh Bheege Alfaaz.

Now Onir informed a leading daily that he had brought these allegations to Vidhu Vinod Chopra's attention in May itself when the matter surfaced since Zain was supposed to star in Vinod's yet-untitled next. "When I got to know about Zain assaulting the girls, I informed those working at Vidhu Vinod Chopra's production about Zain," Onir stated.

Although Vinod continued to work with Zain despite Onir's information, the filmmaker has now decided to lend his support to the #MeToo movement by taking an action against the actor. A statement issued by Vinod Chopra Films (VCF) mentions, "By the time, Onir brought the matter to our attention on May 21, we had already shot a substantial portion of the film. VCF confronted Zain who refuted the allegations. If the aggrieved person shares her grievances with us, we are willing to take harsh action against Zain."

The studio further condemned the abuse and pointed out that they are committed to creating a safe workplace for men and women.

Meanwhile, celebs like Alok Nath, Subhash Ghai, Vikas Bahl, Rajat Kapoor, Utsav Chakraborty and many more have been named, shamed and blamed as sexual offenders and perpetrators.
