Aishwarya and Abhishek’s reunion film Gulab Jamun delayed due to Phantom Films dissolution?

Fans of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan will have to wait a little while longer to see their favourite couple share screen space in a film. In August, Aishwarya had confirmed that she would be reuniting with her husband Abhishek in a slice-of-life film titled Gulab Jamun after eight long years.

However, after the dissolution of Phantom Films which was founded by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena and Vikas Bahl due to the sexual harassment allegations levied against Bahl, the film stares at an uncertain future.

Sarvesh Mewara, the director of the film was supposed to start shooting by next month but now the film has been put on hold indefinitely. A leading daily reported, “The pre-production work on the film had started and Sarvesh was scouting for locations. The announcement of Phantom Films' dissolution took everyone by surprise and has left the Gulab Jamun team in the lurch. Sarvesh has already been advised to approach other production houses."

The fate of many films that Phantom Films were producing is looking at an uncertain future. Phantom Films also had Kabir Khan directed ’83 that stars Ranveer Singh in the lead. However, now the production house will no longer be a party to it. Fortunately, the film had a tripartite agreement and co-producer Vishnu Induri confirmed that Reliance Entertainment is backing the project financially so there won’t be any issue in its filming and release.
