Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor revealed on September 29 via Twitter that he is taking a short break from work and traveling to America for medical treatment. He further asked his fans and well-wishers to not speculate anything about his health condition. Claiming that "it's been 45 years plus of wear and tear at the movies", he promised everyone to be back soon.

Now as per a report in a leading daily, the Kapoors have rented an apartment in New York till the time Rishi undergoes his treatment in the Big Apple. Although Ranbir will be coming back to India to fulfill his professional commitments, Rishi's and Neetu's daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni will fly off to NYC to be with her parents.

Meanwhile, just after a day of Rishi leaving the country, his mother and wife of legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor, Krishna Raj Kapoor passed away due to cardiac arrest. Owing to the tragic circumstances, Rishi could not attend the last rites of his mother because New York and Mumbai are a far distance away and his own treatment had already begun by that time.
On a related note, the daily further quoted a source as saying, "Rishi, Neetu, and Ranbir are absolutely devastated with the passing away of Krishna Raj Kapoor. And, they have been continuously in touch with their family members, who are keeping them updated on everything related to her sudden sad demise and the future course of action as far as the family goes."
Krishna Raj Kapoor, the matriarch of Bollywood's first family, is survived by her sons Randhir Kapoor, Rishi, Rajiv Kapoor, and daughters Ritu Nanda and Rima Kapoor Jain.
