Tumbbad trailer: Sohum Shah starrer is a gripping tale of horror, greed and mythology

After treating the audience with spooky posters and teaser, the makers of Tumbbad have finally released the much-awaited trailer of the film and we must say, it is a perfect amalgamation of greed and fear. The two-and-a-half minute trailer gives us a glimpse of a mysterious place called Tumbbad and further delves into the puzzle that revolves around it.

For the unversed, the film is set in the 1920s and centers around the Rao family and their son Vinayak, played by Sohum Shah. The trailer explores their story and we are told that the old palace holds a treasure, which is protected by a spirit. While the family members are the rightful owners of the treasure, the trailer features a screechy voice that says, 'One shouldn’t claim everything that they inherit'. Thus, the mayhem that is unleashed when no amount of fear can defeat their hunger for the treasure, forms the crux of the story.

The intriguing trailer also showcases the mythological tale that forms the backbone of this horror film. Sohum, who will be playing the protagonist in the film, can be seen donning the typical attire worn by Konkanasth Brahmans in Maharashtra, thereby staying true to the essence of the character.

While the teaser pleased the audience with an interesting mixture of mythology and horror, the trailer promises a roller coaster ride that questions the roots of human greed.
