Dilip Kumar is in the ICU but his health is improving, say doctors

Veteran actor Dilip Kumar, who was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai due to chest infection, is in the ICU at the moment but his health is improving, his doctor said while speaking to a news agency. The 95-year-old actor’s wife, actress Saira Banu said last week that her husband was diagnosed with mild pneumonia following which he was hospitalized.

Kumar’s team of doctors are conducting regular check-ups and he is absolutely normal now. “He is in ICU but is fine now. There has been a lot of improvement in his health. Doctors are doing the check up and the treatment is on too. He is normal and we are very much happy with the progress," Ajay Kumar Pande, Vice President of Lilavati Hospital told the agency.

His family friend, Udaya Tara Nayar, compiler of Dilip Kumar's autobiography, also told another news agency that “antibiotics are being given intravenously” to the actor.

On September 5, Kumar’s nephew Faisal Farooqui, who often posts medical updates about the actor on Twitter, had said that he was admitted to the hospital after he complained of breathlessness, while he also requested his fans and followers to keep him in his prayers. "Saab has been admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital as he was bit uneasy due to a chest infection. He's recuperating. Requesting your duas and prayers," he had written.

Dilip Kumar is a legendary actor and is the star of films Kohinoor, Mughal-e-Azam, Shakti, Naya Daur and Ram Aur Shyam. He was last seen on screen in 1998 in Qila.
