Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput welcomed their second child, a baby boy in the late hours of September 5. The couple has a two-year-old daughter Misha who is all ready to take on the elder sister duties from now on. Shahid in a recent interview spoke about how his daughter has prepared him for becoming a father for the second time. The actor spoke about staying grounded in Bollywood after working for 15-years in the industry and credited his wife Mira for making his life beautiful. However, he did say that between the two of them Mira is the extravagant one.
Speaking about his wife, Shahid said, “I got lucky. I married Mira. She’s as normal as it gets. We kind of hit it off and decided to get into an arranged marriage. By God’s grace, it’s been wonderful, the last three years, and she’s been a huge part of that for me.” Shahid and Mira had a brief courtship before they tied the knot. Mira was a student when Shahid had met her. However, the actor said that he always craved normalcy in his life. He said, “I’m very simple as a person. And although I might live a very lavish lifestyle, I’m very happy I share my life with someone who has a similar mindset.”
Shahid further added, “I am a little simpler than Mira. She likes to be a little extravagant sometimes, which I feel is wonderful.” Talking about the fact that most celebrities live in a bubble and see life through rose-tinted glasses, he said, “We need a reality check once in a while. If we can’t experience life how can we represent it?” Shahid also spoke about having a protective instinct towards daughter Misha and trying to refrain from sharing her pictures on social media.
Talking about social media and sharing updates on Instagram he said, “I don’t know why but I enjoy Instagram. In the beginning, it was tough for me to understand why people are so interested in her, and why I should be sharing her life because I have a protective instinct. However, Mira does it more than me.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Shahid is gearing up for the release of his film Batti Gul Meter Chalu which is directed by Shree Narayan Singh and also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma. The film is slated for a September 21 release.
