As an actor, you are always lonely, says Shahid Kapoor

The world of showbiz might appear glamorous and enchanting by the look of it but it certainly isn’t so in reality. Ask Shahid Kapoor – he’ll explain this statement in detail. In fact, he did, during an interview with a news agency and said that actors tend to be lonely. The journey is distinctive and in case he finds himself in the midst of an emotional circumstance, it appears to resonate in his depiction on screen.

"As an actor, you are always lonely. You are always in the spotlight so that's what people see. But when you are on your own, it's very lonely. And it's a journey that's personal. I believe, at that time, something emotional happens which reflects in my performance. That's when I am being completely honest with myself and probably changing from inside,” Shahid told the news agency.

In a career spanning over a decade in the film industry, Shahid has learnt the art of utilizing his emotions for his characters, which according to the 37-year-old actor, will enable him to better his performance with every film.

"What actors do is, we emote. So, the more there is inside, the more there is to throw out. I have learned to channelise that, which I believe is very important for a long-lasting career. Otherwise, this is a very jumpy job. You are constantly up there, down here. So you try to find that nice place which is your own and just keep that intact,” Shahid added.
