'Chor Nikalke Bhaaga' to take off with Rajkummar Rao in the lead instead of John Abraham?

Director Amar Kaushik who is looking forward to the release of his maiden film Stree starring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurrana was previously meant to direct Chor Nikalke Bhaaga (CNB) with John Abraham and Rajkummar Rao. However, the film faced early jitters and did not take off on schedule due to which Amar concentrated on his efforts with producer Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy Stree. The film written by Raj and DK has already generated a positive buzz among the audience.

However, as reported by a leading daily, Amar refuted all claims of Chor Nikalke Bhaaga being shelved, and said, “It won’t be my immediate next. Rajkummar is the only person who has been retained because he liked the story and is keen on doing it. Also, after working with him on Stree, I have become quite comfortable with him.”

Speculations were also rife that Tamannaah Bhatia and John were also part of the thriller. But, the daily reported Amar saying, “Tamannaah was never offered the film. We had John on board, but he isn’t doing the film anymore. Initially, I had approached John for the main role but when he read the script, he wanted to do the other role (of a cop) and also wanted to produce it. That’s when Rajkummar was roped in to play the lead.”

Chor Nikalke Bhaaga is expected to go on floors once Rajkummar and Amar finalize their schedules and dates. They are also scouting for probable producers. Amar told the daily, “I have spoken to a few other producers. We are in talks with Rajkumar Gupta as well. So, let’s see how things pan out.”

On the work front, Rajkummar has become one of the busiest actors in Bollywood as he has many films in his kitty. Apart from Stree, the Newton actor will also be seen in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga opposite Sonam Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Juhi Chawla. He has also been signed in Dinesh’s next Made in China which will see him sharing screen space with Mouni Roy and essaying the role of a Gujarati entrepreneur.
