Kajol’s Helicopter Eela release changed; producer Ajay Devgn decided as Pradeep Sarkar has dengue

Kajol’s forthcoming film Helicopter Eela will now be released on October 12 from its initial release date of September 7. The decision was taken by Ajay Devgn who decided to wait for director Pradeep Sarkar to fully recover from dengue before starting the film’s post-production work. Sarkar had taken special leave from his hospital to shoot Amitabh Bachchan’s cameo in the film. The film also stars Bengali actor Riddhi Sen and is the story of a single mother and her insecurities related to the fact that when her son grows up what will happen to her.

Sarkar was diagnosed with dengue a few days before Amitabh’s portion was shot and had to be admitted to a hospital in suburban Mumbai. However, since Amitabh had given the date of August 14 to shoot for his portions, the dedicated director left the hospital midway of his treatment. Although, producer Ajay had taken all care and ensured that an ambulance furnished with a doctor were kept on standby at the Andheri studio premises, where the shoot was happening.

Since Ajay was not in town, Kajol the lead actress of the film was present to ensure no last-minute crisis arises. Fortunately, the shot was completed and Sarkar who still had the IV drip needle inserted in his hand went back to be admitted to the hospital. He was discharged yesterday and has been advised a week’s rest. Keeping the director’s health in mind Ajay and Jayantilal Gada decided to shift the release date as they wanted the director to oversee the post-production work.

Meanwhile, Kajol has been busy with the film’s promotions and is looking forward to its release. Kajol in a recent interview said that she identifies with her character of a single mother in the film as her husband Ajay usually is on a shoot and out of town.
