Anurag Basu’s casting troubles for Life In a Metro sequel; Arjun Out, Rajkummar In?

Director Anurag Basu received a lot of acclaim for his film Life In A Metro which was released in 2007. The film had four different stories and an ensemble cast. Anurag recently announced a sequel to his film and the casting for the project has been the talk of the trade since the announcement.

Kangana Ranaut who starred in the film was a fresh face at that time and even though the actress shares a good equation with the director she is not planning to come onboard the sequel. However, a few days back a leading daily reported that Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan were onboard the film but look like Anurag’s casting has hit troubled waters.

The latest buzz is that Arjun has declined the offer of starring in the film after hearing the script, whereas, Kareena has neither given her assent nor declined the offer after hearing the script. However, there is still some good news in the offing. Reportedly, Anurag took the script to Rajkummar Rao and the versatile and acclaimed actor has agreed to be a part of one of the stories. The names of other actors are still awaited and we will keep you updated about the same.

Life in a Metro was a surprise hit and is still a very popular film. It starred Kay Kay Menon, Kangana, Shilpa Shetty, Shiney Ahuja, Sharman Joshi, Irrfan, Konkana Sen Sharma, Dharmendra and Nafisa Ali. The music composed by Pritam ruled the charts and is still popular even today.

On the work front, Anurag’s last film Jagga Jasoos starring Ranbir Kapoor did not fare well at the box office and the filmmaker was much criticized by Ranbir’s father Rishi Kapoor for the delay and the direction. The veteran actor blamed Anurag for his son’s dwindling Bollywood career. However, now he is extremely happy that after Sanju, Ranbir is the talk-of-the-town.
