I am the only villain of the Ranbir Kapoor’s film Brahmastra: Mouni Roy

Popular television actress Mouni Roy who became a household name with telly soaps such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev and Naagin, is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Gold opposite Akshay Kumar. Although the film is based on hockey and has 11 other members in the film she has a pivotal role to play in the sports drama directed by Reema Kagti. She is also looking forward to Brahmastra in which she stars alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Amitabh Bachchan.

Mouni has recently returned from Bulgaria from the shooting schedule of Brahmastra. She revealed that director Ayan Mukerji instinctively felt she could pull off the role in the film after which they went through several look tests. Talking about the film, Mouni told a leading daily, “While I can’t reveal much about my character, I can say that I am the only villain of the Ranbir film.”

Mouni was also on top of the moon because she gets to star alongside Big B. She told the daily about her experience of shooting with Big B, “It was surreal. I was like this little puppy who was just excited to see him and didn’t know what to do and after giving a shot with him I could have happily died. Who would have imagined that a girl from Cooch Behar would be sharing the screen with Amitabh Bachchan.”

Mouni also revealed that although she is playing a Bengali in Gold she was required to speak Hindi with a pronounced Bangla accent which proved to be pretty difficult for her as it sounded caricaturish when she rehearsed the lines at home. However, with the help of Akshay, Reema and a diction coach she was able to nail the part.

Besides, Gold and Brahmastra Mouni will also be seen in Made In China opposite Rajkummar Rao. She plays a Gujarati wife to Rajkummar who is a struggling Gujarati businessman. She will also be seen in John Abraham’s espionage thriller Romeo Akbar Walter.
