Priyanka Chopra was about to make her Bollywood comeback with Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat opposite Salman Khan but walked out of the project in the "nick of time". It was on Friday (July 26) that director Ali Abbas Zafar took to his Twitter to share the news of PeeCee's exit. He wrote:

Ever since the news of PeeCee's exit came through, there was a strong buzz that Salman is upset with Priyanka for leaving the film's team in a limbo. While there has been no official statement from either Salman or Priyanka, the actor's father Salim Khan has finally opened up about the recent development.

In an interview with a website, Salim Khan revealed that neither Salman Khan nor anyone else is upset with Priyanka. "Nope, it’s not the nth hour. And I repeat, such things happen- sometimes they happen for date issues, or the role, or even the money aspect. Aur kabhi aadmi ki kuch apni majbooriyan hoti hai (People have their own reasons). I haven’t yet got into the details of why Priyanka left Bharat, but we shall soon cast someone else. We are not upset with Priyanka. Salman Khan is also not upset."
On being asked who will replace Priyanka, he said, "Koi bhi aa jayeja (uski jagah par). Bahut saare log hain. (Anyone can replace here. There are many people)."
Besides Salman, Bharat also stars Tabu, Sunil Grover, Disha Patani, Nora Fatehi, Aasif Sheikh and Jackie Shroff. Disha and Salman have already started the shoot for Bharat, which is an official adaptation of a 2014 South Korean film Ode To My Father. Salman plays a daredevil stunt motorcyclist whereas Disha plays a trapeze artist in the film. Bharat is slated to release on Eid 2019.
