Stree trailer: A scary journey where Rajkummar, Shraddha and Pankaj promise too much fun

The trailer of Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer, Stree, is out. The film is a horror comedy and the one which is sure to tickle your funny bones. It also features Pankaj Tripathi and Aparshakti Khurana in interesting characters.

What wins the game in this close to three minutes trailer is Rajkummar Rao's performance. He is energetic, intriguing and full of humour in the video. In fact, some of his dialogues seem to be adding so much to the narrative.

Shraddha, however, remains a mystery in Stree. The makers have deliberately kept the details of her character under the wraps and the trailer hints at she being the 'Stree' herself. Watch the entertaining trailer here:

The film, as the makers have deemed, is based on a 'ridiculously true phenomenon.' It's said that the film is about the real-life 'Nale Ba' incident that happened in Karnataka in the '90s. The legend of a village in the state has it that a witch used to roam around and knocks at people's doors at night. She apparently used to call the resident of that house by his name. The one opening the door would die. To save their lives, the villagers came up with an interesting idea. They wrote 'Nale Ba' meaning 'come tomorrow' in Kannada outside their houses. This was to deceive the witch so that she gets trapped in the cycle of coming again and again.

Stree, directed by Amar Kaushik, seems to have done some alterations in the legend as it's known otherwise. Though no complaints since the trailer looks impressive!

The film is slated for release on August 31.
