After Hirani's 'whitewashed' Sanju, Ram Gopal Verma to make a darker and real film on Sanjay Dutt!

Director Rajkumar Hirani's Sanjay Dutt Biopic, Sanju, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the titular role has been a hit since its first show. Within no time, the film became an entrant in the 300 crore club at the box office. Even after all the success, Hirani's Sanju was criticised for apparently whitewashing Dutt's life story.

Hirani, who has previously entertained audiences with his films like Munnabhai MBBS, PK, 3 Idiots, is said to have made this film in an attempt to clean the superstar's public image. Dutt's life has been a rollercoaster ride that went deep into the dark alleys of drugs, underworld, and terrorism. He was convicted for almost two decades for possession of illegal weapons and was highly under the influence of drugs through his late teens and early 20's.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma who is known for his outrageous comments has made news yet again. Last time, he poured his hatred for late screen legend Sridevi for passing away so early, who he dearly loved. Now, he is out criticising Hirani for his film. He believes that he needs to bring out the 'real story' of Dutt's life. In fact, after announcing a biopic on Sridevi's life, now has proposed Sanju: The Real Story which will be a parallel film with that of Hirani.

According to the source of a leading tabloid, RGV loved Sanju but is disappointed with the portrayal of his struggle with drugs and law. The source also added that people are interested in the details of the controversy that revolved around his life for two decades. RGV has also confirmed the news to this tabloid.

His Sanju: The Real Story will, however, focus on his possession of the AK-56 rifle, how threatened his family and the reasons behind his acquisition of those weapons. The filmmaker has started his research on the film and has been meeting Dutt's associates, cops involved in his arrest and investigation.
