Salman Khan-Priyanka Chopra to start shooting for Ali Abbas Zafar's Bharat from July 17

After performing back-to-back promotional duties for his ensemble cast Eid release Race 3, Salman Khan took off to the US and Canada for his Dabangg: The Tour-Reloaded. He will soon be back in town after the completion of his tour but the buzz is that the actor is not looking to take a break anytime soon. The actor will soon start shooting for his period drama Bharat directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.

The film’s shoot will begin in Mumbai where the rest of the cast including Quantico actress Priyanka Chopra and Disha Patani will also shoot for two months straight. It is reported by a leading entertainment website that the shoot of the film will start on July 17. There will be an overseas shooting schedule as well. Bharat is the official Hindi remake of the South Korean film Ode to my Father.  It is a period drama in which Salman and Priyanka sport five different looks as the story travels through 53 long years and has the actors aging through the film. Disha plays a trapeze artist in the film.

Talking about the film Bharat, the director Ali Abbas Zafar had said, “Bharat’s story starts in 1947 and ends in 2010. It will show Salman and Priyanka’s characters age through the years. Like Salman, PC will also sport five different looks. She will age from 28 to 60 years, while he will age from 25 to 65 years in the film.”

The film also stars Tabu and Sunil Grover. Priyanka is reportedly being paid a fat paycheck of Rs 6.5 crores for the film. Once Salman completes shooting for a major part of the film he will move on to begin shooting for Arbaaz Khan’s Dabangg 3 in mid-September. It looks like there will be all work and no play for the actor; we just hope that it doesn’t make him a dull boy and saps the flamboyant attitude that he is famous for.
