It's been more than six years for Sunny Leone in the Hindi film industry and yet she hasn't been widely accepted by those who judge her by her past. The actress had worked in the adult film industry before venturing into Bollywood with Mahesh Bhatt's Jism 2. The actress, since then, has worked on many Hindi films, done cameos and special dance numbers in popular films, given insightful interviews and even faced a lot of trolling and criticism on social media. Sunny has had her share of equal parts love and hate in the industry. And she's now ready to bare it all with her next, a web series on her life, titled Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone.
The actress was recently at the launch of the show in Mumbai where she interacted with the media. Dressed in a bright yellow dress, the actress seemed ready to deal with all difficult and uncomfortable questions. In one of such questions, she was asked to comment on the adult film industry she once belonged to.
Sunny was asked to express her viewpoint on general labelling of adult film stars as either villains/ vamps or the people who are victim of the circumstances. She answered, "For a country with one of the largest numbers of adult people, consuming this material, it’s really odd (to think on those lines). What people are missing (to realise) is it’s a very personal choice. We don’t go like, 'Hey guys, guess what I did this morning'. That doesn’t happen ever. We don’t talk about those things, they are very personal things for most of the people".
She added, "I think that this is maybe your view or maybe the view of a very small percentage of people but not the view of a mass majority of the entire world. Otherwise, it (the adult film industry) would have been an industry that would be down the tubes and not flourishing."
Karenjit Kaur: The Untold Story of Sunny Leone will be aired on ZEE5. The show traces the life of a young Sunny and her tryst with becoming a popular adult film star.
