Good news for Dhoni fans: Sushant is gearing up for the MS sequel

We are unabashed fans of M. S. Dhoni, our most favourite man in blue. Naturally, we are overjoyed by this latest update… There is a sequel to his biopic in the offing, because come on, when you’re Mahi you just don’t stop setting new goals and raising the bar higher. Fortunately, producer Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Films believes likewise and is set to launch the second part of the Dhoni story.

Playing Captain Cool will be Sushant Singh Rajput, who had essayed one of India’s best-loved cricketers in the first instalment, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story as well. It turned out to be the biggest hit of his career – no surprises there! – and naturally, the mood is buoyant when it comes to the sequel as well.

Apparently, the sequel will concentrate on former India’s skipper’s achievements after India clinched the 2011 World Cup. If you remember, part one of the film had ended with India winning the World Cup in 2011.

Also included would most likely be the T20 win by Dhoni’s team, Chennai Super Kings. Besides this thrilling match, the film would probably also include India's steady run, up to the semi-finals, at the 2015 World Cup. Of course, fans will demand vignettes of their hero’s life and they will get them. From landmark moments of his personal life, including the birth of his daughter Ziva, the sequel will bring in the warmth of his personal equations as well.

Dhoni will apparently be involved in the scripting process of the film in particular – who better to share inputs than the man himself! Sushant is naturally all gung-ho about returning to the pitch, so to speak. The sequel is pegged to roll next year and Sushant is set to re-start his cricket lessons soon.

Incidentally, Rajput has another sports biopic in the offing, based on the life of Paralympic Games hero Murlikant Petkar. Speaking about it, Sushant had shared, “The minute I heard his story, I was on. I wanted to do it without a second thought. What an inspiring story! After playing Dhoni, I’m looking forward to playing Petkar, who never allowed his physical hurdles to stand in the way of his dreams. I like playing characters who dream big.”

He’s spot-on about that alright!

But this time around, with the sequel, will the makers stick to unpolished facts?
