Who will star opposite Sushant in Nitesh Tiwari's film- Kriti or Shraddha ?

Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari had recently announced his next directorial venture with Sajid Nadiadwala. Sushant Singh Rajput has been finalized as the lead but speculations are still going on about the female lead. While some reports have announced the female role to be played by Shraddha Kapoor others are suggesting the name of now Kriti Sanon. However, no confirmation has come out until now.

Reportedly the film is a student drama set in an engineering college and is about embracing success and failure with equal measure. Sushant plays the role of an engineering student in the film. Along with Sushant, Varun Sharma of Fukrey fame has also been roped in. As reported by a leading daily, Kriti is being favoured by the filmmakers as she has worked in Bareilly Ki Barfi that was written by Nitesh Tiwari and directed by his wife Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari.

Moreover, Kriti had made her Bollywood debut opposite Tiger Shroff in Heropanti under Sajid Nadiadwala’s banner, so she has the familiarity of home turf. On the other hand, Sushant and Kriti have already worked in Dinesh Vijan’s Raabta and are rumoured to be in a relationship which makes their chemistry on-screen crackling.

The film is slated for an August 30, 2019 release. However, reports are in that the film is headed for a clash with Kabir Khan’s Kapil Dev biopic ’83 that stars Ranveer Singh in the lead. Sajid Nadiadwala has signed on Kabir Khan to direct a film for his banner and probably would not like Kabir’s ’83 to clash with Tiwari and Sushant’s film.

On the work front, Sushant has wrapped up a major portion of Abhishek Chaubey’s dacoit-drama Sonchiriya in the ravines of Chambal. The film also stars Bhumi Pednekar in the lead. He has also wrapped up Abhishek Kapoor’s Kedarnath that features debutante Sara Ali Khan opposite him. Next, up for him is Mukesh Chhabra’s directorial debut, the Hindi remake of The Fault in Our Stars that also stars another debutante actress named Sanjana Sanghi.

Kriti, on the other hand has wrapped up a comedy caper called Arjun Patiala that features Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Sharma. She has also signed up Dinesh Vijan’s desi romcom Luka Chuppi opposite Kartik Aaryan. Meanwhile, Shraddha is busy shooting for Shree Narayan Singh's Batti Gul meter Chalu with Shahid Kapoor and Yami Gautam. She will also be seen in the upcoming horror-comedy Stree that stars Rajkummar Rao.

However, it remains to be seen whether it is Shraddha or Kriti who finally gets signed on for Nitesh's film.
